TOYOTA MR2 TURBO
Iconic Performance and Agile Handling
The Toyota MR2 Turbo is a legendary mid engine sports car that was made from 1991 to 1999. It is known for its sharp handling and fast acceleration. With a powerful 2.0 litre turbocharged 3S GTE engine producing around 200 horsepower and 271 Nm of torque, paired with a 5 speed manual transmission and rear wheel drive, it delivers an engaging and responsive driving experience. Its compact size and balanced chassis allow it to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in around 6 seconds while maintaining impressive agility on both road and track, making it an ideal platform for a Toyota MR2 Turbo Exhaust upgrade.
Precision Engineering and Compact Dimensions
The MR2 Turbo’s lightweight construction, weighing approximately 1280 kg with a 2400 mm wheelbase, makes it a nimble and capable performance car. Its mid engine layout provides excellent weight distribution and a tight turning radius, helping it stand out among rivals such as the Nissan 200SX and Mazda RX 7. The vehicle arrived fitted with a second hand Blitz exhaust system, which limited both fitment precision and overall presence, leading to the need for a fully tailored Toyota MR2 Turbo Exhaust System.
Bespoke Tuning with DKU Performance
To achieve a show ready look and a more distinctive sound, a custom 3.5 inch single sided cat back exhaust system was designed and built, inspired by the iconic Blitz Nur Spec style that runs cleanly along the rear of the car. This bespoke DKU Performance solution replaced the second hand setup entirely, improving fitment, flow, and overall finish while aligning perfectly with the owner’s vision for events such as Japfest.
Enhancing Performance with Custom Stainless Steel Exhausts
The custom stainless steel 3.5 inch cat back system significantly improves both performance and visual impact. The increased pipe diameter and refined routing reduce back pressure, allowing the turbocharged engine to spool more efficiently and deliver a sharper throttle response. The result is a deeper, more aggressive exhaust note, improved driving feel, and a standout rear exit design that elevates the car for both road use and show presentation.
