MERCEDES ML280
Powerful Diesel Performance
The Mercedes ML280, built between 2005 and 2009 as part of the W164 M Class range, is powered by a 3.0 litre turbo V6 diesel engine delivering 190 horsepower and 440 Nm of torque. With its 7 speed automatic transmission and 4MATIC all wheel drive system, it offers strong pulling power and smooth performance both on the road and in tougher driving conditions. To enhance this torque rich diesel engine, a custom Mercedes ML280 Exhaust upgrade was carried out, delivering a deeper and more pronounced tone while improving overall engine response.
Roomy and Functional Design
Measuring 4,780 mm in length, 1,911 mm in width, and 1,815 mm in height, the ML280 provides generous space for five passengers along with a large boot capacity ranging from 551 to 2,050 litres with the rear seats folded. Weighing approximately 2,110 kg, it balances practicality with respectable efficiency. Alongside the exhaust upgrade, a bespoke engine remap and EGR adjustment were completed, improving throttle response, smoothing power delivery, and enhancing everyday drivability without compromising reliability.
Market Comparison
Competing with models such as the Audi Q7 3.0 TDI and BMW X5 xDrive30d, the ML280 stands out for its blend of comfort, capability, and strong diesel torque. With the addition of a Mercedes Benz Performance Exhaust style upgrade and supporting engine tuning, this example now delivers a more engaging drive, improved acceleration response, and a deeper exhaust tone that strengthens its presence on the road.
Custom Exhaust Upgrades
To achieve the desired increase in throatiness, a custom Mercedes ML280 Exhaust System was designed and installed. The upgraded system improves exhaust flow and reduces restrictive back pressure, allowing the turbo diesel engine to breathe more efficiently. Combined with a tailored remap and EGR optimisation, this setup delivers a smoother, more responsive driving experience with a richer and more refined exhaust note across the rev range.
