BMW 320D D3
High-Performance Diesel Engine
The BMW 320D D3, also known as the Alpina D3 version of the 3 Series, features a turbocharged 2.0 litre inline four cylinder diesel engine producing 197 bhp and 302 lb ft of torque. A REMAP160 software upgrade was carried out to optimise the engine calibration, delivering improved power delivery, stronger torque output, and enhanced efficiency. This refined mapping allows the engine to perform more smoothly and responsively across the rev range while maintaining excellent fuel economy.
Dynamic Performance and Acceleration
With the REMAP160 upgrade applied, the engine benefits from sharper throttle response and a noticeably stronger mid range pull, particularly between 2,000 rpm and 4,600 rpm. The improved torque delivery enhances in gear acceleration and overall drivability, making the vehicle feel more responsive and capable in both everyday driving and under acceleration.
Technical Specs and Market Positioning
The 2.0 litre diesel engine, producing 145 kW and 410 Nm of torque in standard form, is paired with either a manual or automatic transmission and rear wheel drive. The REMAP160 optimisation refines the factory settings to unlock additional usable performance while maintaining reliability. This upgrade strengthens the BMW 320D D3 against competitors such as the Audi A4 2.0 TDI and Mercedes C Class diesel, delivering improved performance without sacrificing practicality.
Exhaust Upgrades for Enhanced Performance
To complement the software upgrade, a BMW 320D Exhaust upgrade was implemented using a high quality stainless steel BMW 320D Exhaust System. This improvement increases exhaust flow and reduces back pressure, helping the turbo operate more efficiently and improving overall engine response. The upgraded system also delivers a deeper and more refined tone, enhancing the driving experience while supporting the performance gains achieved from the REMAP160 calibration.
